History

Fiesta Noche del Rio

The Alamo Kiwanis Club Charities, Inc., has been producing Fiesta Noche del Rio continuously since 1957, when it was asked by the San Antonio City Council to stimulate interest on the River Walk. The legendary Rosita Fernandez – “San Antonio’s First Lady of Song” – created and performed in the original production of Fiesta Noche del Rio. Since 1995 the leadership of Noche del Rio has drawn its creative direction and energies from Elizabeth “Lisa” Sanchez-Lopez – director, choreographer and lead female singer.

A respected dance artist and educator, Lisa has choreographed and produced in major entertainment venues and has been instrumental in the opening of the San Antonio’s two major theme parks – Sea World of Texas and Fiesta Texas. In 2012 she was inducted into the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame. When not performing on stage, she serves as Assistant Director of Fine Arts for the Northside Independent School District.

A world-class artistic talent, Lisa leads the company of performers in this year’s 60th edition of Noche del Rio. Make plans to join us this summer for passionate, vibrant music and dance -- and so much more!
