Since its debut in 1957, Fiesta Noche del Rio, an Alamo Kiwanis production, has captivated audiences as a cornerstone of San Antonio's Riverwalk entertainment. Created and originally performed by the legendary Rosita Fernandez—San Antonio's “First Lady of Song”—this iconic show has enchanted hundreds of thousands of visitors over the decades.
In 1995, the reins were handed to Elizabeth “Lisa” Sanchez-Lopez, who infused the production with her talent as director, choreographer, and lead female vocalist. After 27 incredible seasons, Lisa retired in 2018, leaving an indelible mark on the show’s history. In 2019, Katie Rodriguez Hall became the director, bringing a fresh energy and deep connection to San Antonio’s cultural heritage. A former Miss Fiesta San Antonio, Katie trained with the San Antonio School for the Performing Arts, danced with the Alamo City Dance Company, and performed as a Fiesta Noche del Rio dancer in 1999 and 2000. While at Texas A&M, she served as president and choreographer of Ballet Folklorico Celestial. Beyond Noche del Rio, Katie has chaired live entertainment for the San Antonio Riverwalk Association’s Halloween and Ford Holiday River Parades since 2018. Katie’s artistic leadership extends to her role as Artistic Director for Alamo City Arts, overseeing Alamo City Symphony Viva, Alamo City Arts Academy, Alamo City Stage Company, Ballet Folklorico de Alamo City Arts, the Heart of Texas Concert Band, and the Memory Lane Dance Band. Her vision has carried on the legacy of Fiesta Noche del Rio while embracing the vibrant spirit that defines San Antonio. |
