Inspired by watching her family on stage, Tessa began dancing at the age of five. She trained under the direction of her aunt, Sonya Casillas, through the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department's dance program for 13 years and was a member of the city's pre-professional youth troupe, Fandango, for seven years. It was there that she developed a deep appreciation for and dedication to Flamenco and Folklórico.
Tessa continued her flamenco studies in New Mexico at the University of New Mexico and the National Institute of Flamenco. During that time, she was invited to join EmiArteFlamenco, performing with the company for two years alongside exceptional dancers and musicians who helped refine her artistry. She has had the privilege of studying and performing works by renowned flamenco artists including Gala Vivancos, Eloy Aguilar, Nazaret Reyes, Claudia Cruz, and Illeana Gomez.
Today, Tessa serves as the Associate Director of Alamo City Ballet Folklórico, where she is passionate about preserving and sharing the traditions of Mexican folk dance with the next generation of artists. She is honored to continue celebrating the rich heritage of Flamenco and Folklórico through performance and education.
