Tessa TorresDancer - 2024
Inspired by watching her family on stage, Tessa began dancing at the age of five. She trained under the direction of her aunt, Sonya Casillas, with the San Antonio, TX Parks and Rec Department's dance program for 13 years and was a member of the city's pre-professional youth troupe, Fandango, for seven years. It was here that a greater knowledge for learning, performing, and appreciating Flamenco and Folklórico was forged. Tessa continued her flamenco studies in New Mexico at UNM and the National Institute of Flamenco. While there, she was invited to join EmiArteFlamenco and performed with the company for two years, surrounded by dancers and musicians who helped hone her craft. Tessa has had the privilege to study under and perform choreographies by renowned flamenco artists such as Gala Vivancos, Eloy Aguilar, Nazaret Reyes, Claudia Cruz, and Illeana Gomez.
